Rangers failure Umar Sadiq has enjoyed quite the career since leaving Ibrox but the Almeria striker has narrowly missed out on automatic promotion to the Spanish top flight.
After the lanky striker’s side fell to a 3-2 defeat to FC Cartagena – a match in which the Nigerian actually scored – Mallorca were promoted to La Liga with two Almeria games left to play.
That goal was Sadiq’s 19th league strike of a remarkable season in Spain where he also netted twice in the Copa del Rey.
Combined with the six goals Sadiq scored in Serbia with Partizan Belgrade before joining Almeria he has netted 27 for the season.
Now 24, the unorthodox 6ft4 striker has come a long way from that ill-fated spell in Glasgow back in 2018.
Sadiq struggled to break into the Rangers side and when he did he looked unenthusiastic and Steven Gerrard was left particularly unimpressed with his contribution.
A return to AS Roma, the club from which he joined on loan, after only a few months then saw him head out to Perugia and eventually Partizan Belgrade where he found his feet.
In Serbia, Sadiq was a potent force and netted 23 goals and made 19 assists in 52 games with Manchester United even said to be watching him [Scottish Sun].
Now, Sadiq will be hoping to lead Almeria’s charge to the playoffs but they know even a spot here is not guaranteed ahead of matches with Logrones and Sporting Gijon.

Almeria are 3rd with 67 points but they’ve played a game more than everyone else in the playoff spots with only six points separating 2nd and 6th.
Incredibly, Sadiq’s performances this season have not gone unnoticed and the striker was at one point linked with a £26m (€30m) move to German giants Bayern Munich.
