Clement could make return for Gers-linked winger after summer bid

Rangers will look to strengthen again on January and Philippe Clement might be persuaded to go for former Steven Gerrard target Francis Amuzu.

The Belgian international played against the new Gers boss’ Brugge side for Anderlecht when a new, goal scoring winger was the order of the day for the Light Blues.

With a shortage of attacking creativity from wide positions, Rangers should consider a return for Francis Amuzu.

Rangers manager could make Belgian bid for Francis Amuzu

The flying machine has the sort of pace that makes Rabbi Matondo such a threat and saw Fashion Sakala cause opposition defences problems.

He also has a more than respectable end product with three goals in nine games so far this campaign, Anderlecht having reportedly rejected an £8m bid in the summer.

As with Matondo, Clement will be aware of Amuzu from his time in the Juniper League, a league that Rangers have scouted before.

In fact, we haven’t just scouted the Belgian league with Ianis Hagi, Fashion Sakala and Rabbi Matondo all signing from Juniper Pro League sides.

With Scott Wright still in and around the squad, Rangers really need to find someone like Francis Amuzu who we were said to be considering bidding for as early as 2021.

In Ross McCaiusland and Zak Lovelace though, if Clement wants to go down the homegrown route, he at least has two players who showed that they can be trusted against St Mirren.

Budget will obviously been an issue but Clement has taken the job with a transfer window on the horizon.

Football management is hard enough nowadays, but it is even harder without a transfer budget.

Hopefully, the board have been able to give Philippe Clement the assurances that he needs to bring players like Francis Amuzu to the club.
