£2.7m man starts in Rangers predicted XI for trip to St. Johnstone

Rangers prepare to head to Perth for a tough match against on-form St. Johnstone as the club look to make it eleven straight wins in the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers bounced back from Betfred Cup disappointment against St. Mirren to come back from 1-0 down against a stubborn Motherwell to win 3-1.

That result was huge for momentum as the Ibrox side refused to let the disappointment of last Wednesday night linger.

Exactly one week on from the tough trip to Paisley the Gers face a similarly tricky midweek tie at McDiarmid Park as they look to maintain a 16-point advantage in the title race.

The match will kick-off at the changed time of 6pm whilst across the City, Celtic will be facing off against Ross County, who’ve just appointed John Hughes as manager.

Rangers will be hoping the club can maintain this points advantage heading into the crunch Boxing Day clash with Hibs at Ibrox but Callum Davidson’s side will be no pushovers.

The Saints might be on a run of five league games without a win but prior to defeats to Livingston and St. Mirren were on a six-match unbeaten run in the Scottish Premiership.

It promises to be a tough match in Perth but Rangers will be hoping to keep their impressive league form going and ensure all the Bears have a happy Christmas in our final fixture before the holiday.

We’re envisaging a total of two changes in the match with Nigerian star Joe Aribo returning for Scott Arfield and £2.7m man Cedric Itten starting the match in favour of Jermain Defoe and returning firebrand forward Alfredo Morelos.

Here’s how we fancy the Gers to line-up as Rangers look to take full points for the eleventh match on the bounce:

Rangers predicted XI v St. Johnstone – 4-3-3

St. Johnstone boss Callum Davidson will be taking nothing for granted in this match as he admits his side could be in for a “long, long night” against Rangers.
