Rangers seemingly won’t be signing BK Hacken forward Benie Traore this summer as Sheffield United close in on a deal.

Traore is just one of a number of attackers heavily linked with a move to Rangers in recent weeks and months.

Three rumours proved to be true as Rangers pounced for Sam Lammers, Abdallah Sima and Cyriel Dessers.

When it comes to Traore, Rangers seemingly did have a firm interest but went in another direction.

The Sun’s Alan Nixon reported in June that Rangers had offered £2.8million to sign Traore.

That wasn’t enough to tempt BK Hacken into selling their prized attacker Traore as they wanted around £5million.

Rangers seemingly didn’t return with a new offer and focused on landing Dessers instead.

Traore does though seem to be on the verge of a transfer – and he appears to be Premier League bound.

Sheffield United close in on Benie Traore deal

Traore looks set to join Sheffield United following their promotion from the Championship.

The Sun’s Alan Nixon claims that the Blades have now swooped with a £4million deal for Traore.

United are sorting out the payment structure of the deal with the fee likely being spread out over a number of payments.

Traore will sign a three-year deal at Bramall Lane with Hacken now ready to cash in.

The Daily Mail add that Sheffield United are now closing in on Traore with a deal close.

Traore, 20, came through with ASEC Mimosas in his native Ivory Coast before heading to Sweden with Hacken in 2021.

The exciting forward has bagged 12 goals in 14 Allsvenskan games this season, taking Swedish football by storm.

Traore looks to have huge potential and Sheffield United will now be hoping to tap into that in the Premier League.

Rangers have instead gone down a slightly shorter-term route, landing Sima on loan and paying up for 28-year-old Dessers.

Michael Beale will hope that this decision pays off, but the Rangers boss may have one eye on Traore’s progress in England.
