Rangers legend Ally McCoist raised a few laughs ahead of the League Cup Final as he gutted Barry Robson’s flower live on ViaPlay.

The former Ibrox striker and manager is known for his razor-sharp wit and Ally McCoist raised a few laughs by commenting on the Aberdeen boss’s oversized arrangement.

In case you missed it, here’s the clip below with Ally McCoist leaving host Emma Dodds, Killie boss Derek McInnes, Aberdeen hero Andrew Considine, and ex-Rangers star Scott Arfield in stitches.

Ally McCoist goads Barry Robson’s League Cup Final flower

Rangers legend Ally McCoist joked that Barry Robson would need to water his League Cup Final flower to stop it wilting at half-time.

Here’s the full transcript from the hilarious exchange as Super Ally once again raised a few laughs on a rainy afternoon at Hampden.

Emma Dodds: “Barry Robson there with Paul Mitchell and you can tell it’s a Cup Final can’t you Ally?”

Ally McCoist: “What about that flower? I tell you he’s going to have to remember to water that during the first half, man. That’s the biggest flower I’ve ever seen in any Cup Final!”

Emma Dodds: “There’s no shortage of water today thankfully, he should be just fine.”

Aberdeen boss gracious in Rangers defeat

Given Barry Robson usually enjoys mixing the pot when it comes to Rangers, the Aberdeen boss was gracious in defeat come the end of the match.

The former Celtic midfielder praised Rangers’ quality whilst also commending his charges for their performance on the day at Hampden.

Rangers won the game 1-0 courtesy of a James Tavernier strike to lift the League Cup trophy for the first time in 13 years.

“I didn’t think there was much between the teams today,” said Robson. “I thought first half there were two or three times if we made the right pass we were away.

“I didn’t think there was a huge amount in the game. I wouldn’t have said it was a massive spectacle.

“The thing is I was proud of the players, they gave me absolutely everything there. I think to have Rangers hemmed in, Glasgow Rangers a big club like that and they were trying to boot the ball out, it showed that we tried and we just fell short.

“Rangers are going to have a spell in the game. Don’t forget it’s Rangers Football Club, they just beat Real Betis a couple of days ago.

“People forgot that, they’re a good side so don’t anybody out there think that they’re not, they have some really top players.”

Whilst Ally McCoist might’ve raised a laugh at Barry Robson’s League Cup Final flower, kudos to the Aberdeen boss for his post-match Rangers comments.
