Vaclav Cerny seems to have recovered from the dip in form that saw him struggle between the last two international breaks until his breakthrough performance against St Johnstone.
The 26-year old has a stellar CV and enough evidence to suggest that he can make a difference to the squad during his season on loan from Wolfsburg.
And make a difference Vaclav Cerny did against FCSB. Not only did his dribble and pass for Tom Lawrence see early nerves settled, but he added a second that impressed a legendary Rangers goalscorer before an even better third.

Kris Boyd hails stunning Vaclav Cerny strike for Rangers
Kris Boyd, on summarising duty for Sky Sports, was a happy man when Cerny made it 2-0 for Rangers and couldn’t hide how impressed he was with the Czech international’s strike:
“What a finish this is from Cerny. FCSB trying to play out and Cerny does really well. It was Dessers in the corner, they were trying to play it out in a tight corner.
“They got caught in possession and Cerny does really, really well, going and closing them down, robs them of possession in the middle of the pitch.
“And then, moves it from his left onto his right, great first touch to open it up and just bends it in the far corner past the goalkeeper into the side netting.
“Absolutely no chance for him, you’d normally expect it on the left foot, but it’s the right foot this evening.”
What are Vaclav Cerny’s numbers for Rangers this season?
When everything is doom and gloom, negativity seems to spread around a football team like a curse and Rangers are one of the worst.
Cerny spoke about the pressure at the club and his recent poor form and seemed intent to put it behind him.
From the first whistle, Cerny was a force for good against FCSB as he pressed and harried to good effect in the buildup to both goals.
| Appearances | 14 |
| Minutes | 824 + |
| Goals | 5 |
| Assists | 3 |
This sort of effort and intensity will help to sway fan opinion and earn him the recognition that his early numbers deserve.
Five goals and three assists in roughly nine full games in terms of minutes is a respectable return for all but the world’s best and serves as a reminder of what he is capable of.
If his stunning first half strike and second solo effort wasn’t enough already.
