Rangers pair Connor Goldson and Ryan Kent will be fit to face Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final; as the Parkhead club await news on a key trio.
Injuries have somewhat defined a disappointing campaign for Rangers who’ve been without several key players for large chunks of the season.
Whilst several will also miss the clash with Celtic, the news that influential pair Connor Goldson and Ryan Kent will return is set to be music to the ears of supporters.
Michael Beale confirmed that both players would make the game ahead of the clash with Aberdeen, with Ryan Jack officially ruled out.
“Wright is back in the squad, Lowry returns to training tomorrow,” said Michael Beale.
“Goldson and Kent will make it next weekend, Colak will be touch and go.
“Ryan Jack will be out for three or four weeks.”
Celtic await injury updates as Connor Goldson, Ryan Kent passed fit for Rangers
The news comes at the same time as Celtic are awaiting an update on key trio Jota, Reo Hatate and Liel Abada, who have been missing as of late for different reasons.
Speaking after the Parkhead side’s 1-1 draw with Motherwell – where Rangers-linked Kevin van Veen managed to score – Ange Postecoglou confirmed a decision was yet to be made on any of them, even if they’re “close”.
“We’ll see, we’ll see, we’ve got a full week so they’ll have to train all week,” Postecoglou told BBC Scotland [17:19 22/04/23].
“It’s fair to say they’re close, Liel Abada is close is as well.
“So we’ll see how they go, but irrespective of whether they are available or not we just have to prepare ourselves and get ready for a big game.”
Rangers fans will be delighted to see Connor Goldson and Ryan Kent return for the match against Celtic but it’ll mean little if they do not deliver at Hampden.
With Celtic closing in on a fifth treble in seven seasons, the pressure is on Rangers to stop them in their tracks and retain the Scottish Cup trophy.
