Steven Gerrard’s side kicked off their pre-season campaign with a 1-0 victory over Partick Thistle at Firhill as multiple members of the Ibrox squad got a run out in north Glasgow.

Cedric Itten scored the eventual winner for Rangers after Ibrox captain James Tavernier had missed a penalty for the Gers.

As things stand, the match is set to played out in front of a crowd of 3400 Tranmere Rovers supporters with Covid-19 restrictions still in place south of the border.

As a result of the pandemic, the Ibrox club have also warned fans not to travel to any of the club’s pre-season matches down south.

“Supporters, as always, are the heart of Rangers Football Club and welcoming our fans back safely to watch the team play is our top priority,” reads a Rangers statement.

“We are optimistic of being able to invite supporters back to Ibrox this summer and are in close dialogue with the relevant authorities to discuss ways in which fans can safely return to Ibrox and any away fixtures.
