Rangers Women captain Nicola Docherty goaded a controversial journalist with a reference to James Tavernier following the victory over Hearts.
The childhood bluenose was celebrating the Ibrox sideโs quite-stunning 5-0 victory over Hearts at Ibrox which sent them five points clear in the Scottish Premiership.
But the Rangers Women captain couldnโt resist a jibe at comments made by journalist Gordon Parks regarding James Tavernier during the week.
Parks had claimed that an alleged visit to a Five Guys within hours of last weekendโs win over St Johnstone was evidence that Tavernier doesnโt have the โgravitasโ to be a great Rangers captain.
Nicola Docherty in James Tavernier response
Nicola Docherty leads the Women team and knows all about the expectations at Rangers given her lifelong links to the club.
Taking to social media platform X following the thumping win over Hearts, the Rangers Women defender couldnโt resist a tongue in cheek reference to the comments.
In reference to the old โchips and homeโ remark around a routine victory, Nicola Docherty said โ3 points and a 5 Guys and up the road ๐๐โ.
Itโs a show of solidarity from one Rangers captain to another and itโs not the only time the controversial remarks have caught the attention of a key Ibrox employee.
Rangers manager talks captain
Rangers manager Philippe Clement was asked about Gordon Parksโ controversial comments full-time in the Ibrox sideโs thumping 5-0 win over Hearts.
Whilst the Gers boss was initially apprehensive to respond to the question, Clement suggested that the entire debate was unfounded because Tavernier was with his teammates in Perth.
โPeople have told me some things,โ said Clement.
โIf I read that a player is there one hour after the final whistle โ you know better because the player was with us in the stadium.
โAll of these silly stories, I donโt pay any attention to them.โ

James Tavernier has played 42 times for Rangers this season, scoring 19 goals and laying on 10 assists.
