Danny Rohl opted to start John Souttar ahead of Emmanuel Fernandez as Rangers beat Dundee United 4-2 at Ibrox.
Fernandez travelled during the international break and also scored his first goal for Nigeria.
The fatigue could be why Rohl decided to keep him on the bench, but it was not a decision that reaped rewards.

John Souttar’s poor defending slammed by Four Lads Had a Dream
Stevie Clifford, who runs the Four Lads Had a Dream account on X, was far from pleased with Souttar’s defending as Amar Fatah scored for Dundee United.
The Scotland international showed the attacker on the inside, and instead of defending it and helping out Jack Butland in goal, he made an absolute mess of the situation.
He was too slow to react and ended up paying the price for it.
It was evident that Souttar should have shown him on the outside, as that would have nullified the goal threat.
Clifford was not pleased with how the centre-back was easily passed for the goal at Ibrox.
He wrote on X: “Awful defending by Souttar who just is passed far too easily but Tochi should take a booking and doesn’t previously.
“Needless from Rangers.”

Fernandez has been one of, if not the best, players for Rangers this season.
Not seeing him in the starting eleven would have come as a shock to most of the fans.
Souttar’s performance against Dundee United further shows what the team were lacking in the Nigerian’s absence.

If he is fit, there is no way that Rohl will not be starting Fernandez in the final game before the split.
Not only is he the best defender in the team, but he also makes other players around him better.
Despite this being his first season at Ibrox, he seems to be leading by example, which is why clubs all across Europe are taking note.
Arsenal are leading the race to sign Fernandez, but thus far, have not made contact with the player’s representatives over a move.
It remains to be seen if Rangers can succeed in keeping him at the club.
