Connor Goldson has warned Rangers will only realise what they’ve got in James Tavernier when the right-back leaves Ibrox.
Rangers captain Tavernier, 31, scored the only goal of the game to bring the League Cup trophy back to Govan for the first time in 13 seasons.
And the club’s vice-captain Connor Goldson, 30, is under no illusions regarding the importance of his close friend and Ibrox ally James Tavernier.

The Rangers captain arrived at the back post in the second half to volley a Borna Barisic cross past Kelle Roos and end the club’s Hampden hoodoo.
It was the Rangers skipper’s 115th goal for the club and Connor Goldson has heaped praise on Tav after the club lifted the Scottish League Cup.
”The only thing I’ll say and I’ve said it for a number of years now is this football club won’t appreciate James Tavernier until James Tavernier not here,” said Connor Goldson.
“For a right-back to do the numbers that he does. It’s not just one season it’s year after year after year.
“He started this year slow, I don’t think he scored many at the start. You look at him now and I think he’s on a hot streak and long may it continue.”

Connor Goldson has also been talking about the feeling in the Rangers squad following this crucial League Cup victory.
The Gers capped a stunning week with the Hampden victory after qualifying for the Last 16 of the Europa League by beating Real Betis in Spain.
With the top of the Scottish Premiership table now firmly within the club’s sights – and the Scottish Cup still to come – it could be the start of something very special under Philippe Clement at Ibrox.
Connor Goldson has been speaking about the Rangers team after the League Cup Final victory in Glasgow.
“I feel like the group’s confident again,” said Goldson. “Football is like that. When you’re winning games of football you’re confident.
“I think you see the new players now really coming out of their shell and really starting to show why we brought them in.
“We’re going to need that, it’s still a long season but to get this one over the line in December is a massive achievement.”
After the victory over Aberdeen, Rangers’ attentions will quickly shift to a Scottish Premiership clash against St Johnstone at Ibrox.
Victory would see Rangers move within two points of Old Firm rivals Celtic with a game in hand against Hibs still to come.
