As Rangers headed into the international break the club were thrown a massive title bone by St Mirren and they now face the challenge of Hearts at Tynecastle.

The Buddies beat Celtic to cut the gap at the top of the Premiership to two points which means – despite all the doom and gloom at Rangers – the Ibrox side can go top with victory in Edinburgh.

But everyone knows a trip to the Jambos is amongst the hardest in the Scottish game and given Rangers’ unconvincing form as of late there are nerves about the trip down the M8.

Ahead of the match, attention will turn to who starts for Rangers and here we predict the XI we reckon will take to the field against Robbie Neilson’s side in Gorgie.

With Jon McLaughlin injured in the aftermath of his Celtic horror show, the Rangers goalkeeping gloves passed to Allan McGregor and we expect him to keep them for the time being regardless of McLaughlin’s injury status.

James Tavernier has had some time to properly get over a niggling knock that has impacted his form whilst Connor Goldson is a shoo-in to start.

We expect Borna Barisic to take the left-back berth whilst a decision has to be made at centre-back. It’s time for Ben Davies to show what he can do and we expect him to come in for this clash.

In midfield, John Lundstram and Glen Kamara can provide the balance of sturdiness and technique the club needs with Tom Lawrence returning from injury in front of them.

Ryan Kent is then expected to start out left with Antonio Colak starting up top and Scott Arfield coming into the side off the right.

Is this the team that can defeat Hearts and send Rangers top of the Scottish Premiership, at least for a couple of hours?
