As Rangers head into the first Old Firm derby of the season against Celtic the Ibrox club’s supporters remain unsure over which players will be available amid a spate of Covid-19 call-offs.

The Gers were rocked by confirmed Covid-19 positives this week but the club have been decidedly tight-lipped regarding who has been affected.

As Rangers jetted out to Armenia to play Alashkert, six first-teamers and manager Steven Gerrard failed to travel in what is a major blow to the Ibrox club.

James Tavernier, Calvin Bassey, Ryan Kent, Scott Wright, Allan McGregor and Jon McLaughlin are the players who did not travel.

However, assistant manager Gary McAllister was coy regarding players potentially getting out of isolation early due to new rules surrounding vaccinations and negative PCR tests.

It’s left everyone scratching their heads as to who will take to the field for this crunch clash but there have been some indicators as to who might return.

The news is that Ryan Kent’s absence was hamstring and not Covid-19 related – so he could return this weekend – whilst Fashion Sakala has announced he is fit again.

The suspended Kemar Roofe is also available again as Rangers look to adopt a siege mentality heading into the match.

Here, we have a go at picking an XI who could take to the pitch against Celtic but we should be clear anyone linked to the Covid stuff, we’ve left out.

This is because we have no inclination as to who might or might not have tested positive let alone who is or isn’t double vaccinated.

That said, one report this week hinted that one of these names has been confirmed as a Covid positive in what is a major blow to the Gers’ chances.
