Rangers face Standard Liege in Belgium on Thursday evening in their first Europa League group stage fixture.

The Gers will be high in confidence following their dominant win in the first Old Firm of 2020 on Saturday.

Standard have also made a strong start to the season, though, and will be in high spirits themselves after securing a dramatic draw against reigning Belgian champions Club Brugge at the weekend.

It’s unlikely that Steven Gerrard will make wholesale changes for this one for fear of losing some of the momentum gained through victory at Parkhead.

Therefore, we’re predicting just two alterations to the starting XI.

Allan McGregor is set to remain in goal, while the back four of James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Filip Helander and Borna Barisic should remain intact.

However, it’s likely that there will be a change in midfield, with Ryan Jack pushing to come in after his surprise omission on Saturday.

All three starting midfielders were excellent last time out, but we’re predicting that Steven Davis will drop to the bench for a rest to accommodate Jack, with in-form duo Scott Arfield and Glen Kamara retaining their spots.

Alfredo Morelos is favourite to lead the line once again despite failing to score for five matches and he should be supported from the left by Ryan Kent.

Brandon Barker is less likely to keep his place, though, after a disappointing showing against Celtic, and Ianis Hagi should come in to provide more flair and creativity in the final third.
