Rangers have shown glimpses of what they are capable of in the last two games as Philippe Clement looks to squeeze the most out of a team that still has deficiencies.

The manager has a squad that needs more quality in too many areas and he will be hoping that the board can dig deep to give him a fighting chance of reaching the sort of level that he wants to.

Here are your Rangers player ratings for the visit of Dynamo Kyiv with Champions League qualification on the line.

Rangers player ratings v Motherwell

Clement had to make do without Vaclav Cerny in the first-half as Rangers came out the better side:

Jack Butland – 6

Didn’t have any saves to make in the opening period with a well marshalled defence in front of him and Robin Propper adding real quality.

No real chance with either goal.

James Tavernier – 6

The skipper was better going forwards and noticeably tighter to his winger, however, when he was isolated he got beat a couple of times – no full-back wins 100% of these duels and he was up against stiff opposition.

Ridvan Yilmaz – 7

Linked well with Jefte and starting to form the early signs of a good partnership down Rangers left.

One good run in the first-half nearly saw Cyriel Dessers played one-v-one but for solid defending.

Tough task against Andrey Yarmolenko but performed manfully against the experienced winger until going off injured.

Robin Propper – 8

Has made an immediate improvement to the Rangers defence.

Is calm and assured in possession and aggressive in his defensive duties.

John Souttar – 9

Seemed to look more comfortable with Propper alongside him and able to concentrate on his own job.

Outstanding block at 0-0 after Jefte got sent off and unlucky to be on losing side.

Connor Barron – 8

Doesn’t seem to miss a pass, snaps into tackles and covers every blade of grass.

Like a young Stuart McCall – for those old enough to remember.

Mohamed Diomande – 8

One of Rangers most effective players in possession, kept the ball moving and was always probing a the Dynamo Kyiv defence.

Tom Lawrence – 6

Not influencing games anywhere near enough and Philippe Clement really needs to fix the problem at number 10.

Stepped up his work rate when Rangers went a man down and seemed to lead the younger players around him.

Ross McCausland – 5

Worked hard enough but just lacking the quality needed to make a difference at this level.

Cyriel Dessers – 7

Did everything right outside the box in terms of pressing and linking play but lost all composure in the box.

Jefte – 7

The Brazilian isn’t getting marker down because it was never a foul never mind a yellow card when he got sent off.

Had looked dangerous linking with Ridvan and attacked the back post when the ball was on the other side.

Substitutes

Vaclav Cerny – 7

Was unlucky that he came on and Rangers promptly went down to 10 men which made his time on the ball limited.

Nearly created the opening goal with an excellent run through the Dynamo defence.

Dujon Sterling – 4

Didn’t get up to speed at all, lost possession consistently and didn’t do well enough at the opening goal.

Ben Davies – 6

Came on for Ridvan Yilmaz at left-back after the Turkey international had to be stretchered off.

Got the better of his winger in the early encounters.

Rabbi Matondo – 6

Caused problems with his pace, probably should have been on earlier for Dessers and could have done better with an effort from the edge of the box.
