Rangers player ratings vs Kilmarnock: Three 9/10s as Philippe Clement finally finds creativity answer

Add as preferred source on Google

Rangers won their third game on the spin and are building the sort of momentum that might raise confidence and belief.

The manager has a few players back in the squad but the Scottish Premiership clash with the Ayrshire outfit at Ibrox came too soon for the likes of Oscar Cortes and Rabbi Matondo.

Here are your Rangers player ratings for the win over Kilmarnock and the best domestic performance of the season.

Rangers player ratings vs Kilmarnock

With a third consecutive win secured, this is how the Rangers players scored:

Jack Butland – 7

As Kevin Thomson said on commentary duty “he looks a bit bored”.

Dealt with every set piece and through ball comfortably and with pass backs on what was a tricky surface.

James Tavernier – 8

Solid defensively, scored a textbook James Tavernier goal and an inch perfect assist for Cyriel Dessers for Rangers sixth goal.

One swallow doesn’t make a summer, but it’s a start.

Jefte – 8

Growing in confidence as a Rangers player and has cemented his place as the first choice left back giving Ridvan Yilmaz a difficult task to win his place back.

Lovely assist to complete what was a fine evening’s work.

Leon Balogun – 8

If only he was 10 years younger. Solid, reliable, simple. Does all the basics well and dealt with the physical threat of Kilmarnock’s attack.

Robin Propper take note.

John Souttar – 8

As with his centre-half partner, he strolled through what has been an uncomfortable game in the past and just looks more composed alongside Balogun.

Nicolas Raskin – 9

The diminutive Belgian goes from strength to strength for Rangers this season and was immense against Kilmarnock.

The flair players in front of him maybe did most of the damage, however, it was Raskin that gave them the platform to play.

Got the sponsor’s and RTV man of the match, despite the six goals and the displays of Hagi and Cerny.

Mohamed Diomande – 8

Always looked like, with Ianis Hagi back, a better fit for the No.8 or box-to-box role and so it proved with, probably, his best domestic performance for Rangers.

He maybe isn’t the best option for every game, but for this sort of fixture when possession is dominated, he is perfect.

Ianis Hagi – 9

The signing of the summer.

Just the two assists for Hagi in what was a masterclass at No.10 and out on the left, interchanging with Hamza Igamane.

Rangers finally have the solution to the attacking midfield problem.

Danilo – 8

Unlucky not to score before he did but for some outstanding goalkeeping from McCrorie.

Took his goal well and linked play with those around him all night in a manner that Cyriel Dessers simply isn’t capable of.

Hamza Igamane – 8

Made the wrong decision or took too many touches on a couple of occasions, however, his goal was stunning and he was a constant threat.

Has all the tools needed to be a success at Rangers.

Vaclav Cerny – 9

Nils Koppen needs to pick the phone up and ask Wolfsburg how much they are wanting for Cerny because he is the one player who Rangers can rely on, every week.

Another fine display from the Czech winger who continues to create and add goals.

Substitutes

Cyriel Dessers – 8

He came, he saw, he scored two goals.

Dessers was never supposed to be Rangers main man, but he has shown that he can be a more than able deputy.

Kieran Dowell – 7

Steady from Dowell, was busy in possession and enjoyed being able to play without pressure given the scoreline when he came on.

Nedim Bajrami – 7

Was given more freedom to play centrally and seemed brighter than he has on recent appearances.

Ridvan Yilmaz – 7

Has a fight on his hands to win his place in the team back but seemed determined to make a difference.

Connor Barron – 7

Doesn’t ever seem to really do anything wrong and is unlucky to lose his place in the team, but can be trusted to do a job when called upon.
