Philippe Clement can’t seem to get the sort of momentum needed to lift the pressure off his back with even Rangers win over Celtic only providing a brief respite.
The manager has a severe shortage of centre-halves in his squad but he has been coy about bringing reinforcements to Ibrox in the January window – Patrick Stewart is expected to update fans in the coming days.
There should still have been enough depth to cope with domestic duties though and here are your Rangers player ratings for the game with Dundee.

Rangers player ratings vs Dundee
Rangers hit a brick wall once again on their travels and this is how the players scored:
Liam Kelly – 6
Had no chance with the opening goal but his inability to deal with a late corner against Hibs saw every set-piece thrown on top of him.
Outstanding distribution for Rangers goal but should have came for the high ball that saw a penalty check before Vaclav Cerny’s goal.
Ridvan Yilmaz – 4
A willing runner, however, delayed cutting the ball back or crossing it when he had the chance to.
Gave the ball away on far too many occasions, including when he wasn’t under pressure.
Lost the ball more than once with the ball running under his foot or by losing control of it.
Yes, he is playing out of position, but there is no excuse for not doing the basics.
Jefte – 6
Needs to cut out the silly free-kicks and yellow cards because all he is doing is making his own jub harder for himself.
Kept driving Rangers forward and tried to get in behind the Dundee defence but struggled to find a teammate with his crossing.
Had the chance to win it for Rangers with a back post header from an Oscar Cortes cross but couldn’t keep it down.

Robin Propper – 3
Looked like he didn’t trust Clinton Nsiala making his debut and left his area of responsibility which left space for Dundee to attack.
Dundee’s opening goal saw Propper attack the ball rather than hold his shape and deal with the threat behind him and he seemed unable to win any physical battles throughout the 90 minutes.
It was like he was trying to do too much because he was the captain.
Clinton Nsiala – 7
Stuck to his own task manfully with minimal fuss and looked composed in possession too, considering he was thrown in at the deepend and Simon Murray is a difficult opponent to deal with.
Making his debut, he shouldn’t have looked more assured than Propper, used the ball better and didn’t get bullied as often either.
A promising start for Nsiala but let down by the more senior players around him.
Connor Barron – 5
Very busy and industrious but doesn’t have the ability to control the tempo of a game and was largely at fault for Dundee’s opening goal.
Played a blind pass out of position rather than clearing his lines.
Subbed early in the second half as Clement got desperate.
Mohamed Diomande – 5
Anonymous. This type of game seems to be a real struggle for the Ivory Coast international.
When play is chaotic he just doesn’t seem to be able to get his foot on the ball and make any sort of impact.
Dropped into a deeper role when Barron went off and attempted to dictate play but was largely just playing the ball from side to side, cracked the cross bar with a long range effort that would have been a spectacular winner.
Nedim Bajrami – 5
Very similar to Diomande in that the more frenetic games pass him by, there is no doubt that he has quality, but he has to get up to the pace of these games.
Offered very little in terms of linking the play or as a threat in the final third.
Ianis Hagi – 5
Played a key role in Rangers equaliser and looked determined to make something happen but couldn’t find the sort of pass that has seen him make a string of assists since returning to the team.
Went off at half-time due to a problem with his back.

Hamza Igamane – 7
Did most of his best work outside the box, holding the ball up and linking play.
Could have scored in the first half had he been more proactive and got in front of his marker rather than waiting for the ball from cut backs and crosses.
Just about gets an assist for the ball that saw Cerny level the scores but looked a lot sharper in the second period.
Vaclav Cerny – 6
When forwards aren’t playing well they still need to have the ability to chip in with numbers and that is exactly what Cerny did.
Final ball wasn’t as accurate as his usual high standard, however, it was a fine finish on his weaker side.
Huffed and puffed in the second half but looks like a player who needs a break.
Substitutes
Rabbi Matondo – 4
Had the goal at his mercy after a neat turn inside the box only to tackle himself and lose the chance.
Should offer a much bigger threat given his pace.
Danilo – 4
Came on with Dundee starting to sit deeper and found space hard to come by although he did have some neat touches.
Ross McCausland – 4
Deployed in an unfamiliar right-back role for the ineffective and out of sorts Ridvan and did little other than give away a free-kick.
Oscar Cortes – 4
Replace Ridvan on the left wing with the instruction of running himself into the ground.
Nearly provided a late assist for Jefte with a well-placed cross to the back post but the left-back couldn’t keep the ball down.
