Rangers star Fashion Sakala has been spotted in Ibrox training as he eyes his first start of the Europa League knockout round against Braga.

The pacey frontman started two group stage matches for Rangers, starting away in defeat to Sparta Prague and in the eventual 1-1 draw with Brondby in Denmark.

In the knockout rounds against Borussia Dortmund and Red Star Belgrade, Zambian international Sakala only came off the bench for 15 minutes in the 3-0 win against the Serbians.

Pictured in training, the forward will be hoping to be more involved in this clash with Rangers News tipping the pacey forward to start away to the Portuguese outfit.

Fashion Sakala’s direct and pacey approach to the game may suit the Gers as they look to get in behind and we get the feeling he’ll get the nod against Braga in the Europa League.

So far in his Rangers career, the jury certainly remains out on the forward with some unconvinced by the player’s raw style and others believing he hasn’t been given a proper run in the team.

Fashion Sakala must step up for Rangers in coming weeks

With Colombian forward Alfredo Morelos ruled out for the season, the onus is now on the likes of Sakala to stand up and be counted and what a moment for him against Braga.

Scoring 10 goals so far for Rangers, none of the Zambian’s goals for the club have come on the continental stage but on nights such as these heroes are made

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has also thrown his support behind his squad ahead of the match with the Portuguese outfit amid the absence of Alfredo Morelos.

“As I said before, we’re disappointed by the loss of Morelos but in five questions, four have included Morelos so that means he’s a very important player,” said van Bronckhorst [Rangers].

“The reality is he’s not there and we have to prepare this game without him and that’s what we’ve done in the last days and that’s what we are focusing on tomorrow as well.”

Rangers are also eyeing an impressive £10.8m jackpot should they manage to overcome Braga in the Europa League.
