Rangers fans have reacted after the Gers starting XI was confirmed for Thursday evening’s Europa League Last 16 first-leg clash against Slavia Prague [Rangers FC Twitter].

The newly crowned Champions of Scotland are taking on the Czech First League leaders at the Sinobo Stadium and it promises to be an excellent contest.

The Gers’ injury news from the pre-match press conference was mixed, with Kemar Roofe back available following a muscle injury but both Ryan Jack and James Tavernier still sidelined.

Steven Gerrard still had plenty of quality to choose from, though, and he’s gone with the same side that triumphed 3-0 over St Mirren in the Premiership at the weekend.

Allan McGregor is in goal, Filip Helander partners Connor Goldson at centre-back and Nathan Patterson and Borna Barisic occupy the full-back slots.

In midfield, Scott Arfield is overlooked once again as Joe Aribo, Steven Davis and Glen Kamara form a three.

Ianis Hagi remains in the right inside forward berth, while Ryan Kent starts on the left and Alfredo Morelos leads the line.

Will this side be strong enough to win in Prague?

Plenty of supporters were pleasantly surprised to see Gerrard keep both Aribo and Hagi in the team rather than sacrificing one to bring in a more combative midfielder like Arfield.

Should Rangers triumph over Slavia across the two legs they will move to the quarter-final stage and trigger a substantial cash reward from UEFA.
