Rangers have the chance to close the gap on Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership, even if it would take a monumental collapse for the unlikeliest of miracles to happen.

Philippe Clement might not be manager at the end of the season, but it is his job to shape the squad as best he can in terms of improving form and results until the final ball is kicked.

He will be hoping for a greatly improved performance against Aberdeen with Rangers looking to maintain their strong form at Ibrox, here is your confirmed team news to get the job done.

Rangers confirmed team news vs Aberdeen

Clement was buoyed by the return to training of Leon Balogun and James Tavernier, and the Gers boss has made a decision on whether or not to start two players who have been sorely missed.

Ridvan Yilmaz has performed admirably out of position, but he isn’t a right-back, however, he has been asked to go again whilst the skipper recovers his match fitness.

Balogun’s physical presence has also been missed, especially at set-pieces and he should get game time too.

There has been criticism in the past about Clement’s rotation policy and, with Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup at the weekend, he would have taken both barrels if he hadn’t sent out his strongest attack against Aberdeen.

Clement has attacking options but should avoid urge to rotate

It makes a refreshing change to see everyone in the forward line contributing with goals and assists and not having to depend on one player to do everything.

Clement will also be happy to have more attacking options on the bench too.

With Oscar Cortes, Rabbi Matondo, Cyriel Dessers and Nedim Bajrami waiting in the wings, there should be no reason for a delay in introducing fresh legs if things aren’t going to plan.

Ideally though, they should be getting on with Rangers in control and to give those who can be trusted every week a rest.
