Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has lauded Scott Arfield as the form midfielder in the Premiership ahead of Saturday’s fixture against Celtic, as captured by RangersTV.
The Gers will travel to Parkhead for the first Old Firm of the season in good spirits following four consecutive wins prior to the international break.

In the absence of Joe Aribo and Ryan Jack for considerable periods through injury, a lot of responsibility has been placed on Arfield in midfield recently and he’s delivered.
The 31-year-old has two goals and three assists in his last four league outings, while he also scored the crucial opener in the Europa League qualifying playoff round win over Galatasaray earlier this month.
He’ll be hoping to retain his place despite facing stiff competition from a trio of internationals in Jack, Steven Davis and Glen Kamara, and the comments of his manager on the eve of the game will likely fill him with confidence.
“I think we arguably had the midfielder in form in the league in Scott Arfield, who thankfully doesn’t go on international duty anymore and we can keep an eye on him here and he can train with us,” said Gerrard, as captured by RangersTV.
“We’ve got four centre midfielders all in decent form now which is great for me and hopefully, in a couple of weeks time, we’ll have Zungu to add to that as well.”

Rangers boss praises Scott Arfield ahead of Celtic clash – Verdict
Arfield certainly deserves praise from his manager for the way he has performed since returning to the Gers XI.
The ex-Burnley midfielder missed a golden opportunity to seal all three points with ten minutes to go in the league clash at Hibernian in September but has barely put a foot wrong since.
His work rate and ability to disrupt the opposition makes him a good defensive asset, while his late forward runs and link up play add threat in the final third.
He already has one Old Firm goal to his name and if he gets the nod on Saturday, he’ll be looking to add to his tally.
