Rabbi Matondo was handed a start for Rangers in the Scottish Cup fourth round tie against Dumbarton on Saturday.
The Welshman is the stand-in replacement for Abdallah Sima, who was called up to the Senegal AFCON squad this month.
However, Matondo looks set for an extended run in the team as a result of the heartbreaking news emanating out of the Senegal camp concerning Sima today.
The £2.5m Ibrox man impressed in a friendly draw against FC Copenhagen in midweek by notching a well-taken goal to boost his confidence going into the Dumbarton clash.
But Matondo failed to convince the watching Rangers support in West Dunbartonshire as he put in an underwhelming display. And it’s got Gers fans taking to X to lament his performance.

Rabbi Matondo failed to light up a wet and miserable Dumbarton Football Stadium despite Rangers coming away with a comfortable 4-1 victory in the cup.
He missed a chance or two where he really should have been hitting the target and lost possession of the ball on numerous occasions when travelling with the ball at speed.
Matondo did contribute somewhat by winning a penalty for Gers in the second-half which was subsequently dispatched by James Tavernier.
But Rangers fans have been left exasperated by his display against the Sons, with many fans taking to social media to vent their views on him.

Rangers fans are bang on, Rabbi Matondo simply isn’t good enough to represent this football club.
He shows flashes of the potential he has but more often than not, supporters are left desperately disappointed by his performances when it matters.
Matondo lacks any end product and always looks short for confidence. The £2.5m spent on him in 2022 has been a waste of money and it’s safe to say he needd to be offloaded sooner rather than later.
