The last four games of the season could be a torturous affair for Rangers fans although a win over Celtic in the final Old Firm derby of the season would give some welcome respite.
Barry Ferguson hasn’t had a great record as Rangers boss but would be able to leave Ibrox with his head held high if he secured another win over Brendan Rodgers.
A new Rangers manager is a priority for the San Francisco 49ers group with new sporting director Kevin Thelwell already having an influence.
Whoever it is will inherit a Rangers squad that needs a lot of work, but Ferguson must make do with what he’s got against Celtic.
With nothing but pride and a modicum of bragging rights on the line, this is how Rangers should line up against Celtic.

Predicted Rangers XI vs Celtic
In goals, if Ferguson was going to reinstate Jack Butland, he would have done it by now.
Liam Kelly hasn’t really done much wrong, but he also isn’t the long term answer either.
Throwing Butland back in for a derby when he was dropped because of an issue with his confidence would be a brave move though.
Common sense would suggest that Rangers conceding two goals a game means that a change of shape and formation is needed.
The problem is, Ferguson seems intent on sticking to his guns.
Given the injuries to Ridvan Yilmaz and Dujon Sterling, it will be Jefte and James Tavernier starting in the wing back positions.
At centre-half, it would be good if Clinton Nsiala could get a run of games, however, Ferguson has consistently backed experience over planning for next season.
If they are all fit, the three in the middle will probably be Leon Balogun, John Souttar and Robin Propper.

The only decision to make in the Rangers midfield and attack
Bailey Rice has been given some game time in midfield and the only way of really knowing what he is capable of is by letting him learn from his mistakes in these games.
Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande should take up the other two positions.
In Ferguson’s current system, there are only two spaces in the forward line with Vaclav Cerny an obvious pick and he should be joined by Hamza Igamane.
Starting Cyriel Dessers again wouldn’t do anyone any favours, especially not Ferguson if he wants to win all three points.
