Philippe Clement faces massive Rangers dilemma as Hibs look to pull off Ibrox shock

Rangers boss Philippe Clement had to find a Europa League ‘solution’ heading into the trip to Malmo.

But now the Belgian manager is left with an Ibrox dilemma heading into the club’s Scottish Premiership clash with Hibs.

Philippe Clement was heading into a tough Europa League opener in Sweden without a recognised senior left-back in his squad.

Brazilian option Jefte was suspended whilst Turkish international Ridvan Yilmaz remains out with injury.

Dutch defender Neraysho Kasanwirjo left a big impression on his first start for Rangers in the position in the 2-0 win over Malmo.

And now Clement faces a big decision when it comes to either sticking with the Feyenoord loanee or recalling one of his brightest summer signings.

Rangers face Scottish Premiership selection dilemma

Rangers are preparing to welcome Hibs to a full Ibrox for the first time this season.

The Gers were forced to play their opening home games at Hampden due to a delay in construction works in the Copland Stand.

With Rangers confirming in the week that there will be a full stadium open for the visit of Hibs, attentions have quickly turned to how Clement will line his side up.

Left-back is an area of huge discussion, with Neraysho Kasanwirjo leaving a big impression on supporters in Sweden.

But natural left-footer Jefte has impressed since joining the club even if Kris Boyd remains ‘unconvinced’ by the Brazilian defensively.

With Hibs attacker Martin Boyle potentially set to overcome injury and play in Glasgow, whoever gets the nod is promised a tough test.

But it’s also clear that whoever is chosen will have all the belief that they can combat Hibs’ threat whilst also delivering for the team.

Neraysho Kasanwirjo ‘fully focused’ on Rangers

Whilst Rangers fans will debate the merits of either Neraysho ‘Nana’ Kasanwirjo or Jefte starting v Hibs, the big defender is ‘fully focused’ on delivering for the team.

A natural right-back, Kasanwirjo is a versatile defender who can also play at centre-back, left-back and in holding midfield.

Speaking after that 2-0 win in Malmo, Kasanwirjo insists the decision over who plays against Hibs will be that of Philippe Clement’s and that he’s ready to step in wherever and whenever he is needed.

“I played at left-back last season and the coach knows it,” Kasanwirjo told the press after the Malmo game. “So he put me there and I do what I can.

“It’s up to the coach (where I play going forward). I just had a good game today but Jefte is available to play on Sunday as well.

“So we will see what happens.

“Yeah of course (I want to be involved v Hibs). I think when I made my debut in Ibrox it was really special.

“Because I was waiting for it and the coach put me on. It was a really good feeling for me to see the people, the great stadium and the great support.

“I’m totally focused on getting minutes. I want to play as much as I can, I don’t care where it is.

“Just where I can help the team, I play.”

Find out if Neraysho Kasanwirjo makes our predicted Rangers XI for the clash with Hibs at Ibrox.
