Rangers midfielder John Lundstram has been glowing in his praise of Ibrox manager Philippe Clement following the League Cup win over Hearts.

The 30-year-old midfielder was once again instrumental in the 3-1 Scottish League Cup victory at Hampden as John Lundstram continues his resurgence under Philippe Clement.

Since the Belgian boss has come into Ibrox, Rangers star Lunny has been playing himself into contract contention with his current deal up at the end of the season.

But whilst discussions on his future couldn’t be further away from the conversation, John Lundstram has been heaping the praise on Philippe Clement who he claims has been a “breath of fresh air”.

“(Confidence) is really high,” said John Lundstram. “He’s been so good since he came in.

“I can’t speak highly enough of him. I’m really, really happy with the form we’re in and we’re going in the right direction.

“It’s hard to put your finger on one thing, he’s just been a breath of fresh air. The mood around the place is just so much better.

“He’s been fantastic with everyone, not just the starting XI, he’s emphasised how important everyone is as a group.

“The staff, the players who haven’t been involved in the match day squad, we have got some fantastic players who haven’t even been involved today.

“Just emphasising, keeping everyone together. Just lots and lots of things behind the scenes that you guys don’t see but are just a breath of fresh air.”

John Lundstram hails Philippe Clement after Hearts win

Rangers ran out 3-1 winners at Hampden to book their place at the Scottish League Cup Final against Aberdeen in December.

Lifting the trophy will be the biggest test of Philippe Clement’s early Rangers tenure to date whilst the pressure is on John Lundstram and his Ibrox teammates to deliver silverware.

If the club can overcome the Dons at Hampden it’ll go some way to repairing the damage of the last few seasons and hopefully set the club up for a more serious title tilt this season.

In the meantime, the Rangers team will just be enjoying their success at Hampden with another trip to the national stadium scheduled in little over a month’s time.
