Greg Docherty is midway through a season-long loan at Shrewsbury Town.
The blue nose is bidding to show he could be a hit at Ibrox, through developing and impressing in League One.
He has done a good job so far, getting minutes under his belt and adding goals to his game. The 22-year-old has notched six in all competitions so far for the Shrews.
However, circumstances have changed at his adopted club.
The manager that helped secure Docherty’s loan deal, John Askey, was sacked at the end of last month. The vacancy has since been taken up by former Hull and Bolton defender, Sam Ricketts.
Ricketts’ first league game in charge last Saturday, ended in defeat. While Docherty started the fixture, he found himself replaced in the closing stages.
Clearly, he didn’t do enough on the day to sufficiently impress the new boss.
Tomorrow, though, represents a second opportunity. The Shrews, currently languishing in 17th place in League One, welcome high flying Peterborough to New Meadow.
Docherty should be given the nod again in the middle of the park, and it’s a chance to make his mark against one of the division’s form teams.
His ultimate goal is to do enough to come back into the reckoning at Ibrox. Yet, that won’t be possible if he fails to win over his new boss.
The hard work continues tomorrow, where he will hope to produce another eye-catching performance.
