Danny Rohl could axe Thelo Aasgaard after what he did in Rangers vs Dundee United

Danny Rohl decided to start Thelo Aasgaard as Rangers are taking on Dundee United at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon in the Premiership.

Despite Youssef Chermiti being a regular, he had to settle for a spot on the bench, while Ryan Naderi led the line for the hosts.

Naderi got himself on the scoresheet, finding the back of the net in the 30th minute of the contest and Dujon Sterling added a second before the break.

If YOU were to change one thing about his management style for next season, what would it be? 🤔

Thelo Aasgaard has been extremely loose in possession

Rohl could decide to bring Aasgaard off in the second half for Chermiti and move to a 4-2-2-2 formation.

The Norway international did play a role in the goal, but it was not something extraordinary and the fact that he is on a yellow card already makes him a liability.

He also missed a tap in opportunity into an empty net that would have made it 2-0 before Sterling eventually did that.

According to Sofascore, Aasgard had just a 65 per cent pass accuracy in the first half, which is a poor return.

The 23-year-old also found himself in wide positions and has struggled to make it count, completing just one out of his three cross attempts.

Aasgaard has also lost possession on 10 occasions, which is unacceptable for a player who’s expected to be one of the creative outlets.

What Rangers need to do in the second half

After a slow start, the Gers improved and managed to score two goals to go 2-0 up.

However, they conceded a goal on the stroke of half-time and now there is everything to play for in the second period.

The hosts have dominated possession, but they need to stop being so wasteful in the final third and Rohl needs to get them organised in transition.

Time and again, they have tried to make something happen by doing too much and they need to stick to basics.

John Souttar also needs to improve as he has not defended well, and it won’t be a surprise if Rohl brings on Emmanuel Fernandez in the second half to replace the Scotland international.
