Rangers leaders Connor Goldson and John Lundstram have heaped praise on under fire duo Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers.
Talking after Rangers’ heroic 3-2 Europa League victory over Real Betis, the pair were giving separate post-match interviews with RangersTV.
But both were quick to point to the contribution of both Cyriel Dessers – who scored a stunning goal on the night – and Sam Lammers – who continues to be pilloried in some sections of the support.
Connor Goldson and John Lundstram are considered two of the senior leaders in the Rangers squad and in a defiant show of faith, both commended the under fire duo.
Connor Goldson bites back against “stick”
Rangers vice-captain Connor Goldson has bitten back at the “stick” given to teammates Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers.
Hailing the duo for their performance in the victory over Real Betis, the ex-Brighton centre-back has also praised the “great team spirit” in the Ibrox ranks.
“It’s huge,” said Goldson. “We knew we had a big task on our hands today and listen they are a top team, in forward areas they’ve got so much quality.
“I think we showed great team spirit tonight. I think when we had to dig in and suffer together we done it well.
“Obviously we conceded a few chances and a few goals against good players, it’s going to happen.
“But I think at the other end as well we hurt them and let’s be honest, I know they’ve took some stick but tonight Cyriel Dessers, Sam Lammers, Abdallah (Sima) again, little Ross (McCausland), I think what a game they’ve all played and they’ve got us through to the next round.”

John Lundstram also took the opportunity to name both Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers in some post-match Rangers praise.
The Ibrox midfielder claims everyone involved in the victory played their part with Rangers coming “top talented players” in Spain.
“I thought some of the lads were brilliant,” said Lundstram. “Kemar (Roofe) came on put a right shift in.
“I thought Cyriel (Dessers) was magnificent up top all night, put himself about, worked his socks off. Sam (Lammers) was brilliant.
“Just a top performance from everyone and you don’t get results like that if everyone on the pitch doesn’t play well against some top talented players.”
