Chris Sutton and the rest of the Celtic support were gearing up for a title party as Rangers headed towards defeat in Aberdeen.
But after a defiant Ianis Hagi stepped up with a last-minute equaliser, ten-man Rangers once again came back from two goals down to record a 2-2 draw at Pittodrie.
That result means that Celtic’s Scottish Premiership coronation has been put on hold with Rangers’ progress in the Europa League hanging over the Parkhead side’s celebrations.
And when asked if Hagi’s last-minute equaliser could carry momentum into this week’s Europa League quarter final second leg against Athletic Club, Sutton couldn’t resist a bite.

Chris Sutton brands Rangers staff ‘pathetic’
With Celtic inevitably marching towards a fourth Scottish Premiership title in a row Chris Sutton has branded celebrations in the Rangers dugout as ‘pathetic’.
This comes after the Rangers bench were clipped celebrating wildly after Ianis Hagi’s curling effort hit the back of the net.
”Important is what respect?” Sutton asked after being asked if Rangers’ last minute goal could be an important momentum builder ahead of the trip to Bilbao.
“They’ve drawn the game. We can sort of try and skirt around it and say the title isn’t over.
”It’s absolutely over and sort of celebrating that goal at the end, it’s desperate stuff isn’t it? It tells you were Rangers are at, it’s just pathetic.”
Kris Boyd responded: “He’d planned to go back down to Glasgow to celebrate tonight, he’s raging. Relax mate, relax.”
Rangers Europa League run can steal headlines from Celtic’s season
Rangers’ domestic shortcomings won’t be lost on Ibrox fans after yet another season of bitter disappointment on Scottish soil.
Celtic had the VAR team bungling in their favour to help the Parkhead side to Premier Sports Cup victory at Hampden over Rangers earlier in the season.
The Parkhead side need one more point from an available 15 to be crowned champions of the Scottish Premiership, with a Scottish Cup semi-final against St Johnstone on the horizon.
But despite heading towards a sixth treble in nine years, it appears Celtic fans and Chris Sutton are a tad consumed by what Rangers are doing on the European stage.
Maybe that’s because they know another run to a European Final might just take the shine off the Parkhead club’s success this season.
