Aberdeen manager Barry Robson has branded the Rangers VAR penalty award at Pittodrie “soft”.
The Dons boss was speaking after Rangers managed a 1-1 draw against his side in the Scottish Premiership.
Speaking after the game, where Bojan Miovski had fired Aberdeen in front, Aberdeen manager Barry Robson has aired some frustrations around the Rangers penalty award, which James Tavernier duly dispatched.
These mostly stem from Sam Lammers’ apparent block on defender Stefan Gartenmann as the defender was ruled to have pulled Goldson’s shirt.
Barry Robson raises Rangers penalty frustrations
“Soft I think, I’ve watched it back,” Robson told BBC Sportsound. “I think Rangers are clever.
“He’s been blocked, they’re telling us that blocking is a foul as well, so he stops him with the block without the tug.
“And it’s a tiny little tug and if this is the way we’re going with football then it’s not great.
“But for me you should book him for the block, or the game should be stopped for the block before it but that wasn’t done.
“So VAR’s done its job but yet VAR didn’t check two minutes later Goldson on Polvara.
“If we’re going to do check with VAR we’re going to need to do it all right, not just one bit. For me they got that wrong.
“If you’re going to give a penalty fine, you need to check everything and then obviously they’ve missed it again today.”
When asked what he said to Nick Walsh at the end of the game, Robson added: “Just that I hope that you’ve got it all right.
“That’s all I asked for. That was it, that’s all I asked.”

Opportunity missed
With Celtic having dropped points against Motherwell in the day previously, this will be viewed as an opportunity missed by Rangers.
But nonetheless the Ibrox side were dug out by a late James Tavernier penalty, awarded for a tug on Connor Goldson’s shirt from a corner.
This was a very sub-par reaction from a Rangers point of view, with a disastrous start leading into a lack of quality in front of goal, and the result has frustrated supporters.
Rangers fans expected their squad to respond and whilst the fall-out will be less fierce given the late penalty, it has to be considered two points dropped against Barry Robson’s side.
