Ryan Jack has had a great start to the season at Rangers but he’s set to miss out against Maribor.
Despite 8 months out last year, he’s bounced back and looks fitter than ever. Jack is controlling games and looks to have a huge role in this Rangers team. He’ll also flourish under the guidance of fellow midfield general Steven Gerrard.
A fairly OTT challenge by Stevie May talented Scotland international means he is out of the crunch tie with Maribor.
With Greg Docherty off down South on loan, who will stand up in his place?

Ross McRorie
Perhaps the most similar player to Jack on the list. McRorie is a natural tackler but doesn’t offer the same energy across in midfield. He’ll sit deeper than Jack, but he has an eye for breaking up play and is a vocal presence on the field for one so young.
The natural replacement.

Ovie Ejaria
In terms of style, Ovie is the most different from Jack, but his talent is there for everyone to see. A nimble, powerful playmaker, the England U20 international is clearly a player Gerrard respects. However, replacing Jack’s bite and leadership with silk and deft touches may backfire.
As he’s still young, his decision making and concentration have often been found wanting. And this is a huge game.

Graham Dorrans
Rangers midfield is looking a bit threadbare at present, and with Lassana Coulibaly and Scott Arfield likely to start, Dorrans could be the man entrusted with filling Jack’s boots. The only other real option is Daniel Candeias and central midfield isn’t the Portuguese winger’s natural position.
It’s a big if, but the former Scotland international has undoubted talent and could do a job for Rangers if he banishes the ghosts of last season. He is certainly an option.
