As Rangers had to fend off strong interest from West Brom, but James Tavernier was idolised by supporters in the aftermath of the Ibrox side’s 3-1 win over Maribor.

Goals from Alfredo Morelos, Tavernier, and Lassana Coulibaly have Rangers in full control of this Europa League tie. With a trip to Slovenia awaiting in the second leg, and Mitja Viler’s away goal still keeps the tie alive.

Tavernier put in a man-of-the-match display as he showed leadership and a commanding presence that’s seeing him develop more and more as a player.

However, Rangers still have a big job in Slovenia to get over the line as Maribor snatched a crucial away goal that stopped Gerrard’s side going out of sight.

And the Ibrox side will look to continue their momentum heading into Sunday’s home clash against St Mirren in the Premiership.
