Steven Gerrard should call on exciting Rangers 19-year-old against Hearts

Rangers head to Tynecastle for their first post-split fixture early on Saturday afternoon.
The squad will have felt the benefit of a rare weekend off considering the hectic schedule they have had since July.

While there’s no chance of catching Celtic at the top of the league, it’s important to close out the season well.
After consecutive 3-0 victories, confidence should be high. Crucially, the likes of Scott Arfield and Jermain Defoe have really stepped up in the absence of key players Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent.
Their movement and energy brought a new fluidity to Gerrard’s side at Fir Park.

Now, it’s time to add even more dynamism.
Glenn Middleton has been in scintillating form for the Reserves and surely can’t be ignored any longer.
After a brace against Hibernian a fortnight ago, he notched another double against Celtic on Monday, including a superb solo effort to seal the points.

He brings a raw pace that the Gers lack when Kent is missing and would offer a dangerous attacking outlet away from home.

Daniel Candeias has played 47 times this season, so can hardly complain if he is the one to miss out.
This is the time to give people opportunities and blood young talent. Glenn hasn’t started a league match since the Boxing Day clash with Hibs and it’s time for that to change.
Gerrard should send out a front three of Defoe, Arfield, and Middleton and let them wreak havoc at Tynecastle.
