Rangers star Alfredo Morelos has returned to Glasgow speedily from international duty ahead of the clash with Celtic on Saturday afternoon.

El Bufalo turned out twice for Colombia over the past week, coming off the bench in a win over Venezuela and a draw with Chile.

The latter fixture only took place on Wednesday night over 7000 miles away in Santiago and it has been suggested that the striker faced a race against time to make it back to Glasgow for Old Firm day [Scottish Sun].

Rangers fans were hoping for a smooth return journey for Morelos and many would have been relieved when he posted to his Instagram story on Thursday night confirming his return.

He shared a photo of himself indoors in a tracksuit in front of red, white and blue balloons and a ‘welcome home’ sign.

The 24-year-old added a thank you message to his wife, Yesenia, on the image.

After shaking off any weariness from his long journey, Morelos is now set to fight it out with Cedric Itten for a place in the Rangers starting XI at Parkhead on Sunday, as the Light Blues look to take all three points from the first Old Firm of the season.

Joe Aribo and Kemar Roofe are facing a race to be fit enough to make the squad but after a productive international break for many Gers stars, Steven Gerrard has plenty of in-form players to choose from.
