In midfield, things may be shaken up a little more. There’s a case that after starting every game this month, Steven Davis may benefit from a rest ahead of the League Cup semi-final.
Glen Kamara should also be available once more after a minor illness.
Therefore, Jack could come in for Davis with Joe Aribo retaining his place and Kamara shifting Scott Arfield forward to a more advanced role.
The Canada skipper has failed to contribute from that berth so far this season, but with Barker and Jones out injured and Ojo in poor form too, he’s likely to get another chance to impress.
At the back, there’s a case to rest Borna Barisic ahead of the weekend, given that he’s played eleven games on the bounce for club and country, but for the sake of consistency, Gerrard may decide to keep the defence as it is.
