Rangers fans have responded following the announcement of the Gers’ starting XI for their penultimate Premiership fixture of the season against Livingston.

The champions are in West Lothian with an unbeaten record to protect and are going up against a Livi side battling for a fifth-place finish.

A whole host of players were unavailable for the Gers, leaving Steven Gerrard with a number of selection headaches.

Filip Helander, Leon Balogun, Nikola Katic, Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield are all injured, while Nathan Patterson, Calvin Bassey and Bongani Zungu are suspended.

As a result, some tweaks have been made to the side that defeated Celtic 4-1 at Ibrox last time out.

In goal, there’s an unenforced change, as Jon McLaughlin comes in for just his tenth Premiership start for the club in place of Allan McGregor.

James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and Jack Simpson all continue in defence but Joe Aribo has dropped into left-back from midfield.

In the middle of the park, Steven Davis and Glen Kamara retain their spots but Ianis Hagi comes in to fill the space left by Aribo.

Unsurprisingly, after they all performed well in the Old Firm, the front three of Ryan Kent, Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos is unchanged.

The availability issues ensured that Gerrard was unable to fill the bench, with only six additional players named, including McGregor.

Will this side be strong enough to secure all three points?

The main talking point was the decision to go with Aribo as a makeshift left-back, the position in which he deputised admirably during a Europa League Round of 32 clash against Braga last season.

Here’s a selection of reactions to that selection call:

In other news, a Rangers loanee’s season is reportedly likely to be over due to an injury.
