Nikola Katic signed from Slaven Belupo last summer and he quickly established himself as a favourite of the Rangers fans.
So much so, that when he spent some time out of the team, a social media campaign kicked in to have him reinstated.

The Croatian has made 29 appearances in all competitions so far this season. Which, on the face of it, constitutes a fair amount of game time.
However, the fact is, he spent large spells either on the bench or out of the squad altogether.
Both Gareth McAuley and Joe Worrall were ahead of him in the pecking order earlier in the season and it’s likely he’s only getting a run in the side now because the latter is about to head back to Nottingham Forest.

Regardless of the reasoning behind it, though, since his return to the side, he has done well.
He’s started the last four matches, helping to record three clean sheets in that time.
Can Katic nail down spot?
Now, a much bigger test awaits, though. Connor Goldson and Joe Worrall have been the partnership chosen by Gerrard for the last two Old Firms. But, this time, Katic should get the nod.
The likes of Odsonne Edouard and James Forrest pose much more of a threat than he has encountered in recent weeks.

The timing of the fixture is important, too. While there’s nothing tangible left to play for, the transfer window is about to open.
It’s reported that Rangers are intensifying their pursuit of Edson Mexer [Daily Record] and there’s bound to be an influx of new players over the summer.
A commanding display could see Katic keep the shirt for the start of next season. A poor one will leave him vulnerable.
