Legia secured a morale-boosting league victory at the weekend, but despite that, the general consensus is that Legia aren’t the force they used to be and that the Gers have more quality in their ranks.

If we think back to Luxembourg in 2017, Bears know that factor doesn’t always guarantee results. Yet, the manager is confident his squad have enough to get over the line.

“We’ll go into the game really looking forward to the challenge, really up for it and believing we can get it done,” said Gerrard, as quoted by the Daily Record. “If we can’t that’s the way it is, we need to roll on and not feel sorry for ourselves.”

“Our best performance gets it done, that’s my mentality.

“When my squad have been asked the big questions then more often than not it has found a way. It’s stood up to the challenge, I have belief and confidence that the boys can get it done.

“But the key to it is that they as a group can find their best level of performance.”

Verdict

Tonight’s clash against Polish giants Legia is the biggest game of the season so far.

Judging by the first leg, they are a dangerous side who deserve to be taken very seriously. However, as Gerrard says, a top performance will be required to see the Gers through.

The likes of Gvilia and Luquinhas will cause problems if given time on the ball and it’s up to the midfield trio to deprive them of that.

Going forward, the Gers have already demonstrated their potency this season. They have 19 goals across seven European ties and if they can add a few more to that tally tonight, they’ll sail through to the competition proper.
