Rangers’ Champions League qualifying opponents Malmo FF have announced a new signing – but he won’t be eligible to play at Ibrox.
The Swedish Champions currently lead their Scottish counterparts 2-1 heading into the second leg and have just announced the signing of Peruvian international midfielder Sergio Pena.

The 14-times capped Peru star, 25, joins the Swedes after two years with Dutch Eerste Divisie side FC Emmen.
But due to registration rules, the attacking midfielder will be ineligible to join in with his new teammates when they visit Ibrox next week.
As Pena has joined halfway through the clash between Malmo and Rangers he cannot be registered until the next round of European competition.
Rangers and Malmo will go head-to-head for a place in the Playoff round of the Champions League with a reported £40m on the line for the winner of that tie.
The loser of Rangers v Malmo will drop into the Europa League Playoff whilst the victor will go on to face either Olympiakos of Greece or Ludogorets of Bulgaria.
Rangers have it all to do at Ibrox next week but have been boosted by the news that the club will have a full capacity crowd for the occasion.
“Rangers can confirm there will be a full capacity at Ibrox Stadium going forward, subject to conditions prescribed by the Safety Advisory Group of Glasgow City Council,” reads a Rangers statement.
“The ticket office will be in contact with season ticket holders today to confirm the process for ticket allocation for Tuesday’s match v Malmö.
“We cannot wait to hear you roaring, from the stands of Ibrox Park.”
The Ibrox club have already released ticketing details for the match and you can read more about them HERE.
