Gerrard should hand out a Rangers debut against Hearts

Matt Polster joined Rangers during the final throes of the January transfer window.
It was a deal which eventually came about after a trial period and lengthy endeavours for a work permit.
However, despite the efforts went through by all parties concerned, he still hasn’t made an appearance in the famous shirt.

Initially, it was made clear the USA international right-back needed to build up match fitness. Then, a tight groin set him back for a week or two.
Yet, it seems he’s been fit for some time now without getting his debut. He was snapped multiple times in Rangers’ training gallery on Tuesday, so he’s fit and ready to go.

Surely, now is the time to get him involved.
Being thrown in from the start against Hearts would be too big a leap and almost certainly will not happen given the problems in the other full-back slot.

There will scarcely be a better time to introduce him off the bench, though.
Of course, the result is the most important thing tonight. The Gers are winless in five matches and that’s a streak that needs rectifying.

Yet, with a league challenge well and truly over and no chance of silverware, now is the time to start handing out opportunities.
Polster is one of several players who need a chance to show what they can do.
Now is the time for Gerrard to show faith in the player he handed a two-and-a-half year deal to back in January.
