Rangers talent Zak Lovelace was a secon- half substitute for the the England U17s as they got their European Championship campaign off to a winning start against Croatia.
A goal from Ethan Nwaneri in the eighth minute was enough to secure all three points for England in their opening match of a tournament in which the Young Lions are amongst the favourites.
Zak Lovelace came off the bench to replace Leon Chiwome about an hour into the clash, which was being played in Hungary at the Balmazújvárosi Városi Stadion.
The Rangers B team took to Twitter to congratulate Lovelace, 17, on his latest England youth appearance and pointed fans to the U17s upcoming match with the Netherlands.
Rangers fans can watch the match, set to take place on Sunday evening, on the UEFA.TV website or via BBC iPlayer and they will likely catch a glimpse of the striker.
The other opponent in England’s group is Switzerland and let’s hope Lovelace can leave an impression at the tournament.
Zak Lovelace showing international pedigree with England U17s
Signed on a cut-price compensation deal from Millwall last summer, it was considered something of a coup for Rangers to secure the signature of the promising England talent.
Considered one of the nation’s brightest young strikers, Lovelace had already made his debut at the Den and has been touted for the very top.
Rangers fans have seen flashes of Lovelace’s talent as he impresses with the club’s B Team but there have also been small first-team opportunities for the striker.
The striker made his Rangers debut in the League Cup clash with Queen of the South earlier in the season, while Lovelace made his Old Firm bow last weekend in the 3-0 victory over Celtic.
In total, England youth striker Zak Lovelace has made 35 appearances for the Rangers B team this season, netting 18 goals, including a UEFA Youth League double against Napoli.
