Rangers star Joe Aribo has been named by African football fans in a special Team of the Year alongside the likes of Liverpool’s Mo Salah and Ajax’s Sébastien Haller.
Over 20,000 fans took part in the special African Insider XI of the Year with Nigerian star Joe Aribo taking pride of place alongside some of the biggest names on the continent.
Algerian keeper Raïs M’Bolhi starts between the sticks, with Morocco pair Achraf Hakimi and Badr Benoun starting in defence alongside Kalidou Koulibaly (Senegal) and Ramy Bensebaini (Algeria).
Rangers star Joe Aribo (Nigeria) starts in midfield alongside Malian duo Aliou Dieng and Yves Bissouma.
Algerian winger Youcef Belaïli, Ivory Coast striker Sébastien Haller and Egypt forward Mo Salah complete the XI.
Edouard Mendy (Senegal), Joel Matip (Cameroon), Thapelo Morena (South Africa), Franck Kessie (Ivory Coast), Mohamed Magdy (Egypt), Youssef En-Nesyri (Morocco) and Ali Maâloul (Tunisia) make up the subs.

Joe Aribo is a very popular player indeed at Rangers and now the silky midfielder’s talents are being recognised well beyond Scottish shores.
Reportedly one of the Ibrox club’s most hotly sought-after assets, Aribo continues to be linked to a host of Premier League sides, most recently Southampton.
Ahead of the African Cup of Nations – where Joe Aribo will turn out for the Super Eagles – it may well have some Rangers fans nervous heading into the rest of the window.
At the same as the tournament represents an opportunity for Joe to showcase his exploits on the international stage, it may also result in a few prying eyes locking their attention on Ibrox.

But where Joe is successful at the AFCON in Cameroon, it will stand to embolden Rangers’ transfer position with the 25-year-old.
Whilst the attacking midfielder only has 18 months to run on his current deal, if Aribo stands out amongst the best talent in Africa then Rangers can expect to value the midfielder as amongst the best talents in Africa. too!
