Rangers midfielder, Glen Kamara, came off the bench for Finland on Wednesday night in a 5-1 hammering at the hands of Poland.

Finland have performed well over the last two years, securing wins over the likes of Greece and Bosnia and Herzegovina on their way to qualifying for their first-ever major tournament.

However, they were handed something of a reality check in Gdansk.

Finland currently sit 56th in the FIFA World Rankings while Poland are 19th and although both managers took the chance to experiment with their sides for this friendly, the gap between the teams showed on the pitch.

West Brom winger, Kamil Grosicki, netted a hat-trick inside 40 minutes before a Krzysztof Piatek goal ensured it was 4-0 to the hosts by the time Kamara was introduced off the bench in the 62nd minute.

Things started to look up for the visitors almost immediately, with Ilmari Niskanen pulling one back six minutes later.

Yet, there was to be no surprise comeback and Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik grabbed a fifth for Poland in the closing stages to complete the hammering.

It wasn’t a great showing from a Finland side who had only conceded three times in their previous five fixtures.

At least Kamara should be relatively fresh for his country’s return to Nations League action against Bulgaria in Helsinki on Sunday, though, with Markku Kanerva’s side looking to build on their narrow win over the Republic of Ireland last time out in that competition.
