Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos featured for Colombia on Friday as they were outclassed by Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier.
Carlos Queiroz’s side were defeated 3-0 at the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez in Barranquilla, as they slipped to seventh in the ten-team qualifying league.

Morelos was named on the bench for the game, with Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel the forwards selected in a strong-looking starting XI.
Yet, the visitors had plenty of quality in their own lineup and they took the lead after just five minutes through Edinson Cavani.
Morelos was subbed on for Muriel on the hour mark after a Luis Suarez penalty had doubled Uruguay’s advantage, but he wasn’t able to turn things around.
Instead, the away side extended their lead further, with Darwin Nuñez, who recently played against Rangers for Benfica, concluding the scoring in the 73rd minute.

Everton centre-back, Yerry Mina, who Morelos was pictured with in the build-up to the game, was sent off at the death to add to the home side’s woes.
Colombia dominated possession in the game but were unable to take their chances, with only two of their 11 efforts troubling the opposition goalkeeper.
With Zapata and Muriel failing to impress, El Bufalo will be hoping for a start against Ecuador in Quito on Tuesday, as La Tricolor look to get back to winning ways.
