On Saturday evening, Alfredo Morelos got international game time with Colombia.
The Gers striker had been out of favour for a number of months and was excluded from the Copa America squad in the summer by Carlos Quieroz, presumably due to concerns over his disciplinary issues.

However, he’s always made it clear that he has big international ambitions [Scottish Herald] and he’s forced his way back into the reckoning by cleaning up his act and banging in the goals with regularity. He has 14 in 19 appearances this season [Soccerbase].
Rangers marksman Morelos returns to Colombia action
Those stats weren’t quite enough to earn him a start in the friendly against Chile, with Luis Muriel, Duvan Zapata and Roger Maritnez named in a front three for the game held in Alicante.
However, an early injury picked up by Zapata saw Morelos enter the fray after just 23 minutes.
This was his fourth international cap and by playing 67 minutes, it was his longest outing yet in a Colombia shirt.

He saw a header saved after 32 minutes and also had a shot denied by Claudio Bravo just after the hour mark. Ultimately, he wouldn’t be able to register his maiden international goal [ESPN].
However, given that Falcao is absent from the squad and Zapata has picked up a knock, there’s a good chance he will start Tuesday night’s clash against Algeria in Lille.
After so long out of the fold, that would represent an excellent opportunity to make his mark and attempt to win a spot going forward.
