Rangers and Chelsea stars Nathan Patterson and Billy Gilmour scored a sweet victory over Celtic players Greg Taylor and Ryan Christie ahead of Scotland’s Euro 2020 opener against the Czech Republic.
Patterson and Gilmour teamed up against the Hoops duo for a Teqball match at training [Scotland National Team YouTube].
The relatively new game is played on a curved table and combines elements of football and table tennis, with players allowed to use all body parts except their hands and arms.
The contest certainly got the competitive juices flowing on both teams and there were some impressive rallies.
Taylor and Christie took an early lead but Patterson and Gilmour turned things around before eventually clinching a 12-11 victory after an unforced error from their opponents.
Plenty of Bears will no doubt feel it’s fitting that the Gers’ 2020/21 dominance over their fiercest rivals has made it into the Scotland camp.
Rangers academy graduate Patterson and former Ibrox starlet Gilmour, who moved to Stamford Bridge in 2017 despite growing up supporting the Gers, are both hoping to feature in Scotland’s Group D opener against the Czechs at Hampden on Monday afternoon.
Both youngsters recently made their senior debuts and looked at home but their positional rivals Stephen O’Donnell and Callum McGregor were both picked regularly by Clarke during the qualification campaign.
