Lawrence Shankland continued his mighty Hearts form with yet another goal for the Jambos as the striker’s Euro 2024 pledge sends a Rangers warning.
Barely a week goes by that the Ibrox side aren’t mentioned alongside the boyhood bluenose, who has been on relentless striking form this season.
And Lawrence Shankland kept up that red-hot run of goalscoring this weekend as Hearts cruised to the Scottish Cup quarter finals at the expense of Airdire.
Netting yet another double in Hearts’ 4-1 win over the Diamonds, it takes the striker’s remarkable tally for the season to 25 for club and country with no signs of slowing.
Lawrence Shankland on Euro 2024 hopes
Speaking after the victory over Airdrie, Lawrence Shankland has also been talking up his Euro 2024 aims.
The Hearts talisman was included in Steve Clarke’s last selection – Shankland going on to net a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Georgia – and the striker claims he’s got one eye on earning a plane ticket to Germany.
“Of course (I’m thinking about Euro 2024),” Lawrence Shankland told BBC Sport. “I need to.
“I’ve kind of worked myself into a good position. Obviously getting back involved in the last squad, getting a goal.
“Of course I need to think about that and do what I can but all I can do really is play well for the club and work hard until then and it kind of takes care of itself when it comes about.”
When asked about a potential target for goals this season, the striker said: “I just need to get up to 30 mark and have a look at that.”
Rangers could face summer transfer battle
On current form Lawrence Shankland is a shoo-in for Euro 2024 and it might have one or two Rangers fans a little nervous.
The Gers were priced out of a move for the 28-year-old striker in January and some may well be hoping it doesn’t come back to bite the club come May.
But for those Rangers fans who reckon the Ibrox club might return for Lawrence Shankland in the summer, talk of Euro 2024 might well introduce some new players to the game.

As if the striker’s rampant form in Scotland wasn’t enough, a successful Euros with Scotland might well just turn a few heads in the Premier League.
If Rangers do legitimately hope to strike a summer deal for the striker, it would then pose an almighty dilemma for the Hearts forward.
