Derek Johnstone has discussed Rangers’ lack of representation in the senior Scotland squad, in his Evening Times column.
Allan McGregor’s decision to retire on the eve of the squad announcement ensured no Gers would be involved in the nation’s first two Euro 2020 qualifying fixtures.

In hindsight, perhaps that’s a good thing.
Participation in the embarrassing 3-0 defeat in Kazakhstan could only result in some psychological scarring.
Nevertheless, it’s an issue that needs fixing. Rangers should have players involved with the national team.
“It’s only really Ryan Jack in contention at the minute, because there aren’t that many eligible players in the Rangers squad as it is”, wrote Johnstone in the Evening Times.

“But there are a few exciting talents coming through that I’m sure we will see earning Scotland caps in the not so distant future.”
“The likes of Glenn Middleton and Ross McCrorie are exciting prospects. Hopefully, that will mean there will again be players soon that can be cheered on in both the light blue of Rangers and the dark blue of Scotland.”
Of course, both McCrorie and Middleton were in action in youth internationals this week.

The former
They are certainly on the right path, with senior call ups hopefully on the horizon.
