Wales manager Rob Page has revealed that Rangers manager Aaron Ramsey will not start the nation’s upcoming friendly with the Czech Republic.

Speaking ahead of the game, the Welsh gaffer also revealed that the Juventus loanee may not even feature at all after playing 90 intense minutes in a 2-1 World Cup Playoff victory against Austria.

Alongside Gareth Bale – who scored a double in the game – Page revealed that both players were feeling it after going through the mill for their countries.

The comments will make Rangers fans nervous ahead of the clash with Celtic given Aaron Ramsey’s injury history but it’s clear Wales won’t be risking the midfielder ahead of the game.

“They both struggled towards the end of the game. You could see both of them were holding their groins and hamstrings,” said Page [Sky Sports].

“They both had a tough 95 minutes. But we’ll have another night and we’ll make that decision in the morning whether we involve them in the 23. They’re not going to start.”

The Gers are set to welcome their age-old rivals to Ibrox this weekend in a must-win Scottish Premiership clash that can close the three-point gap at the top of the table.

This would mean Rangers and Celtic would be level on points heading into the final six games of the season and the momentum would somewhat swing towards Ibrox.

Juventus loanee Aaron Ramsey was signed for these exact types of occasions and over the last few weeks has been steadily getting himself back to fitness.

Aaron Ramsey isn’t the only Rangers doubt heading into the match either, with star striker Alfredo Morelos sent home early from international duty.

The striker has a muscle injury in his left thigh and it remains unclear if he will be available for the crunch clash with Celtic.

If Aaron Ramsey is fit enough to play, then he can form one part of a trio who can impose themselves at Ibrox and put Celtic in their place.
