Alfredo Morelos has told The Scottish Sun (Sun Goals 11/02/2019, page 10) that he is keen to feature more for Colombia after a recent managerial change.
The 22-year-old striker has been the go to man for goals for Rangers, this season.
He has a remarkable 23 in all competitions so far, more than some of the biggest names in Europe.
Yet, he only has one senior Colombia cap to his name.
That’s not hugely surprising, given the quality resources the nation have in attacking areas.
Radamel Falcao, Carlos Bacca and Luis Muriel to name a few.
However, a new manager has just taken the reigns and there may be an opening for El Buffalo.
Former, Real Madrid, Portugal and Iran national team coach, Carlos Quieroz, has recently taken the Colombia job.
“I dream every day of playing in the Copa America for Colombia”, Morelos told The Scottish Sun (Sun Goals 11/02/2019, page 10).
“Everyone knows Carlos Quieroz is a good coach and I want to do everything possible to get his attention.”
Picking up a three-match suspension isn’t the best start to that. There are some question marks as to whether or not Morelos deserves the ban, but it was upheld by the SFA nonetheless.
When he gets the chance to return for the Gers though, it’s clear that he now has even more motivation to succeed.
